The Heart Chakra : Secret location, Meaning, Symbol and Association
Anahat Chakra
Etymology ( The Hidden Meaning ) the hidden of the Heart Chakra
The word “Anahat” is a Sanskrit word. It is made up of two words; “Anahata” which means “The eternal sounds-OM” and “Nad” which means “music” or “sound” and is the sound of Void or sound of silence.
The music of OM is called Anahat. OM is called Aanahat Nad which means unstruck sound created by the vibration of nothingness.
This means that in the very beginning, there existed nothing to strike against to produce a sound.
All other sounds are Aahat Nad which means sounds that are produced by some kind of collision.
The ultimate OM is not what we can utter because the OM that we utter is also an Aahat Nad, produced by the friction of the Vocal Cord.

The Secret Location of the Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the 4th Chakra and is located in the center of the chest, right next to the heart. That is why it is called the Heart Chakra in English. The Heart Chakra is supported by the Thoracic Curve Vertebrae.
The Thoracic Curve Vertebrae is the part of the spinal column that forms a group of twelve small bones in the upper truck area; the chest, the back, the shoulders, the rib cage, heart, lungs, and others.
Just like the curve in the location of the 2nd chakra (Sacral Chakra), the location of the Heart chakra also has curves because of the rib cage.
Rib Cage is the part of the Thoracic Curve Vertebrae that protect the heart and the lungs.
Rib cage forms a protective curved shape, like a shield in the chest area, and because of the curve, the vital energy in this Chakra expands more.
Let’s understand the function of the curve in this way. We all have seen rivers and all rivers have curves.
Where does a whirlpool (vortex) occur? Yes, at the sharp turns and curves.
The sharper the curve is, the stronger the force of the whirlpool is.
This is why the energy at the Heart Chakra expands more easily than at any center.
Lets Unreveal the Function and the Hidden Meaning of the Symbol of the Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is associated with Thymus Gland. The thymus gland is part of the Immune System, located in the upper front part of the chest, in front of the heart.
The thymus gland is large in children and slowly shrinks and becomes fat by puberty (teenage) but before it disappears, it develops the autoimmunity in the body which works throughout life.
The Thymus gland produces Thymosin hormone.
The function of the Thymosin hormone is to produce T Cell ( Thymus Lymphocytes Cells ). The function of the T Cell ( Thymus Lymphocytes Cells ) is to protect the body from pathogens.
A pathogen is a bacterium, virus, or any microorganism that causes disease. So, the physiological function of the Heart Chakra is to protect our body from diseases.
Now let’s understand the function of the Heart Chakra on the spiritual level.
The symbol of the Heart Chakra is a lotus with 12 petals.
The 12 petals of the Heart Chakra represent 12 divine qualities.
The 12 divine qualities are;
- Bliss,
- Peace,
- Harmony,
- Love,
- Understanding,
- Empathy,
- Clarity,
- Purity,
- Unity,
- Compassion,
- Kindness and
- Forgiveness.
Meditation on the Heart chakra results in a healthy manifestation of the 12 petals of the lotus.
The Heart Chakra is represented by green color. The green color is composed of yellow and sky blue.
Yellow is the color of the chakra below the Heart chakra and sky blue is the color of the chakra above the Heart chakra. So, this is one of the reasons why the color of the Heart chakra is green.
There is another significant meaning of the green color. Green is the color of spring, flowering, and growth in Nature.
We discussed above that the 12 petals of Heart Lotus are Bliss, Peace, Harmony, Love, Understanding, Empathy, Clarity, Purity, Unity, Compassion, Kindness, and Forgiveness.
So, it indicates that the growth of humans (both inner and outer growth) is possible only if they practice the 12 petals.

The Solar Plexus chakra is associated with the Thymus gland (a part of the Endocrine Glands). An active Heart chakra means a healthy Thymus gland.
The function of the Thymus gland is to promote immunity in the body.
The element of the Heart Chakra
The Heart chakra is associated with the Air Element because as discussed above the location of the Heart chakra is at the Thoracic region of the body where lungs are also located and the function of the lungs is associated with the air.
The function of the lungs is to assist oxygen from the air that we breathe to enter into the red blood cells and to help the body to get rid of carbon dioxide when we breathe out.
