Vishuddhi Chakra

Etymology ( The Hidden Meaning ) the hidden of the Throat Chakra

The word “Vishuddhi” is a Sanskrit word. It is made up of two words; “Visha” which means “Poison” or “Impurity” and “Suddha” which means “Pure” or “Cleansing”.

The Secret Location of the Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is the 5th Chakra and is located as the name suggests in the throat. The Throat Chakra is supported by the Cervical Vertebrae.

The Cervical Vertebrae is the part of the spinal column that forms a group of seven ring bones in the neck area and is the thinnest, the most delicate and the most mobile bone in the spinal column.

The Throat Chakra has a deep connection with the Cervical Vertebrae, Thyroid Gland, and Mouth that facilitate expression. That is why the Throat Chakra is associated with the communication.

Lets Unreveal the Function and the Hidden Meaning of the Symbol of the Throat Chakra

The Throat Chakra is associated with Thyroid Gland. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located in front of the neck and windpipe. The Thyroid gland produces Thyroxine hormone.

The function of the Thyroxine hormone is to regulate the heart, digestion, and metabolism. Additionally, it helps in the development of bone and muscles. Actually, it affects the overall functions of the whole body in one way or the other.

Now let’s understand the function of the Throat Chakra on the spiritual level.

Meditation on the Throat chakra results in a healthy manifestation of the 12 petals of the lotus.

The Throat Chakra is represented by a sky blue color. We discussed above that the Throat Chakra is associated with the communication.

When do we communicate effectively?

Yes, when we are open physically (body language) and mentally (calmness and confidence).

Name two things that represent openness?

Most of the people say, “Sky” and “Ocean” and their colors are blue. So, we subconsciously associate the color blue with openness and communication. This is one of the reasons why the Throat Chakra is represented by the blue color.

Another reason why the Throat Chakra is represented by blue color because the element of this chakra is the 5th element of the Nature, “ Aakasha” which can be roughly be translated as “Sky” or “Space” which looks light blue. Please Note that “Aaskash” does not mean “Sky” or “Space” in spiritual terms. The deeper meaning “Aakasha” is discussed in the latter part of this article.

Associations of the Throat Chakra with Subtle Body and Glands

The Throat Chakra and The Mental body

The Throat Chakra is associated with the Higher Etheric ( Etheric Template ) Body which is the 5th layer of the Aura from the physical body. Stimulation of this chakra expands the Higher Etheric ( Etheric Template ) Body. It is a layer of space ( empty ) where the blueprint ( sketch ) of the shape and form of the physical body and identity and personality of a person exist.

Before any illness appears in the physical form in the body, it appears 1st in this body which penetrates the Astral body, the Mental body, the Emotional body, and the Etheric body and gets manifested in the Physical Body. Just like the negative of a photograph, it is the negative of the physical body.

The Throat Chakra and the Thyroid Gland.

  • The Throat chakra is associated with the Thyroid gland (a part of the Endocrine Glands). An active Throat chakra means a healthy Thyroid gland. The function of the Thyroid gland is to regulate the heart, digestion, and metabolism and create balance in the whole body.
  • The element of the Throat Chakra is Aether.

According to Physics, Aether is an energy field that is responsible for the expansion of the universe. The American astronomer Edwin Hubble was 1st in the West to prove that the universe is expanding after whom the Hubble Space Telescope was named after.

The classical scientists such as; Aristotle, Rene Descartes have philosophized and agreed on the presence of Aether.

Sir Isaac Newton mentions the existence of Aether in the Third Book of Opticks. Einstein first rejected the existence of Aether but in 1920, he accepted it and said that empty space has physical qualities.

Yet, it is a controversial topic in science even today.

In Eastern Philosophy, Aether is called Aakasha. One of the 5 elements of the Nature.

The new periodic table has 119 elements ( one new element added in 2019 ). All the elements can be classified into the 5 elements which are called the “Pancha Mahabhuta” (the Five Great Elements) which is mentioned in Veda, especially Ayurveda.

The Five Elements are ;

The Five Elements are ;

SN. Sanskrit Names English Names
1. Bhuma/Prithivi Earth
2. Jala Water
3. Tejaa/Agni Fire
4. Vayu/Pawan Air
5. Akkash/Shunya Aether /Void

Aether is the empty space where the Earth, Water, Fire, and Air exist. All that exists, exists in the cosmic void, the empty space which Stephen Hawkins also talks about in his book, “A Brief History of Time”.

The Throat Chakra and the Bodily Sense

The Throat chakra is associated with the sense of the hearing because above we discussed that the element of the Throat Chakra is Aether, which is an energy field in the cosmos and physicists and cosmologist who believe in the existence of the Aether state that the energy field of the Aether can be used for transmission of waves, much like sound waves. Sound waves are obviously associated with the hearing sense. So, this is one of the reasons why the Throat Chakra is associated with the hearing sense.

We also discussed above that the Throat Chakra is associated with communication and expression. Hearing and listening are as important as speaking. This way too, we can relate the sense of hearing and the Throat Chakra.

The Mysterious Sounds and Mantra of the Throat Chakra.

The Throat chakra vibrates at the frequency of 384 Hertz. So, listening or humming along music in G Note music (A Note tuned in 432 hertz) can stimulate this chakra. The mantra of this chakra is HAM.
